Hi Everyone,
The PTO is hosting its annual Valentine's Dance on February 14th at 6pm in the gym. Please [click here] for more information.
This is always a fun and exciting night for students and is one of our more popular events.
In order to make the night successful we need several volunteers. Since parents are required to stay at the dance to chaperone their children this would be a great time to jump in and help if your child is planning to attend.
Donations:  * Water and/or baked goods
                        *  Baskets to raffle Positions we need to fill:
                        * 3 - 5 volunteers to staff concession tables and basket raffle sales
                        * 2 - 4 volunteers to staff temporary tattoo station and hair color station

                        * 5 volunteers to man exits (to keep children from wandering the halls or exiting the building)
If you can fill one of these positions or if you can make a donation to the dance please contact Ronda Norman at
ronda_norman@yahoo.com.

Did You Know?
·
The PTO provides over $23,000.00 each year for educational programs, field trips, school supplies and family events at the Elementary Center.
·
This equates to about $40.00 per student!
·
All money is raised within our district and stays right here at our school.

Every fall we hold our Annual Fundraiser.  Information on fundraising, prizes and events will be sent home through the students in September to kick off our 3rd Annual Walk-A-Thon. This one event makes up approximately 56% of our total yearly budget.

This is why we need your support.

At this time we are soliciting business sponsorships.  If you own a business or are a connected with a business that might be willing to make a contribution, please review the attached letter and let us know if you have any questions.  Students will receive credit toward fundraising prizes from business donations.
Thank you for all your help!

If you have any questions please contact Jenifer Wohlgemuth at Jennifer@deerlakepa.com or Tracy Wescott at twescott@ha-pa.com.  We are excited about this year’s Walk-A-Thon and are looking forward to talking with you.

June 6 ~ Well, we have made it - we are at the end of another successful school year! The Officers of the LTPTO would like to take this time to thank you - our members - for your support throughout the year.
The LTPTO has accomplished so much this year. Through your generosity, we have collected over  $22,000 for our children. With this money, we have been able to provide Smart Boards for the classrooms, bring an author in to speak to the children, sent all of the children on at least one field trip, and provided two free books per student!
And that's not all!
We also welcomed a new Kindergarten class, scooped yummy ice cream, had Emergency personal instruct the children on fire safety, and even had visits from the 'Big Guy' in December and the Bunny in March! Plus over $1,200 was given to our teachers for classroom purchases.
Now that summer is upon us, here are just a few ideas to help keep our children busy:
Soccer:
Walk-in registration will be held at the Factoryville Borough Hall on Tuesday, June 11th from 6-7:30PM, and again on Thursday, June 13th from 6-7:30PM. Children from ages 4 through 16 are welcomed to join.
Bowling:
Free bowling has been offered at Idle Hour Lanes / South Side Bowl. Please visit www.kidsbowlfree.com to register.
Movie clubs:
Many of the local theaters offer reduced movie prices for the summer. For example - you can purchase 10 movies for only $5 at the Cinemark Theaters in Scranton. Go to any local theater's web site and look for the summer movie clubs for details.
Libraries:
Check out the Dalton Library and the Albright Library (Scranton) for wonderful summer reading programs / and fun events.
And last but certainly not least - Congratulations to the Lackawanna Trail High School Class of 2013! Whether you are a parent of a graduate or just a member of the school community, you should be proud of the accomplishments made by these young men and women. Best of luck to them in this new chapter of their lives!
We look forward to working with all of you during the 2013-2014 school year.

As always, thank you for supporting your children by supporting your LTPTO.

The officers of the LTPTO would like to thank you for your support during the 2012-2013 school year. We are however in need of some parents (Moms and/or Dads) willing to step up and take on vacant positions for the 2013-2014 school year. Please remember - by helping the LTPTO you are in fact helping your children! We do so much for the kids but cannot do it all without you!

The vacant positions include:

  • EVENT EFFORTS:

    • Fire Safety. Safety personnel come to the school each fall to provide instruction to the children. Duties will include ordering and pick up both breakfast (donuts/coffee) and lunch (subs/chips/drinks) for these volunteers, as well as set up and clean up.

    • Teacher Appreciation. At the beginning of each school year (September) the PTO provides the faculty and staff at the Elementary Center with 'sweets and treats' to thank them for their dedication to our children. Duties include ordering pastry (from Ray's Market), delivering it to the school, and setting it up!

    • Author Day. Each year the LTPTO invites an author to come speak with the children. This gets the kids excited about reading/writing! Duties include contacting an author, organizing a book order, and spending the day with the author.  In years past, the Elementary Center Librarian, Mrs. Cali has been a wonderful resource. She has found many author's or us to contact. Thank you Mrs. Cali!

  • FUND RAISING:

    • Scrip Gift Card Coordinator. Gift cards are ordered during the Holiday Fundraiser which takes place in late October. Duties include collecting order forms, ordering gift cards on-line, and distributing the gift cards.

  • OFFICER POSITION:

    • Secretary. We are in need of a secretary. Duties include the taking of minutes from all LTPTO members meetings and publishing them to the Elementary Center web page. Training will be provided!

  • OTHER OPENINGS:

    • Bulletin Board Coordinator. Directly across from the office at the Elementary Center the LTPTO has a bulletin board. If you are creative - it is yours to design! Place any LTPTO information you feel would benefit our members.

    • Newsletter Coordinator. The LTPTO has always dreamed of having it's very own newsletter. Would you be interested in making our dreams come true?

If you have questions or are interested any of the items listed above, please contact one of the LTPTO officers.

As always, thank you for supporting your children by supporting your LTPTO.
